Zygmunt Wujek’s „Woman with Risen Hands”, as known as „Siren”, is a sculpture published in the year 1967 (BUŁŁO 2014). It is made of cement with copper filings and is located in Książąt Pomorskich „A” Park near the roundabout connecting Młyńska and Piastowska streets. The sculpture is surrounded by wide-crown trees, which may project shadows when branches are covered with leaves. Edges of the plinth are nicked and the whole sculpture is very rough.
The sculpture was scanned on July 26th, 2013. Basing on the obtained data, 3D model was created in CloudCompare using Poisson method. In the next step, the model was optimized in Instant Meshes. In another step, textures were created in Agisoft Photoscan from photos taken on April 4th, 2014. DSM algorithm was not able to relate the top side (hands with pigeon) with the rest. To fill this gap in texture the other model was created using older photos from July 26th, 2013. Both elements were aligned and connected in Meshlab.
This reconstructed and simplified 3D model does not properly portray the face of figure. Due to the height of the model, the biggest error of measurement exists on the upper side, hardly accessible for terrestrial laser scanner. The error of the reconstructed pigeon’s back may even reach 3 cm. Due to the used material and the accessibility, the rest of sculpture has a decent quality.
Because I do not support a mindless devastation and especially not the primitive one, I have censored the effects of vandalism like offensive words and phallic symbols.
The detailed, uncensored and properly scaled model of this sculpture is available upon request.
