Description

The wooden obelisk was created by Mirosław Jaruga. The name of this piece of art is unknown. It was located near 85 Batalionów Chłopskich street, behind former „Intropol” building (BUŁŁO 2014). The sculpture has numerous wooden elements, but the upper part (hat) was made of riveted steel and has a dark color. The object is damaged and seems neglected. There are many scratches, holes and indentations and the sculpture is missing few wooden stakes. The measured height from ground to top is 5.55 meters, while obelisk sides have width of around 0.42 meters.

Currently the decaying sculpture has been dismantled and moved to an art workshop.

About model

The sculpture was scanned on July 26th, 2013 and detailed pictures were taken on 5th April, 2014. Based on the obtained data, 3D model was created in Agisoft Photoscan, which was manually fixed in Blender. In the last step, the model was scaled to the scanned one in CloudCompare. The work ended on August 20th, 2020.

The reconstruction algorithm apparently had problem to recreate upper side (hat) of the sculpture, as well as stakes coming out of the main corpse. All of these was caused mainly due to the terrestrial positions of the scanner and the camera. After model optimization to the lower count of details, edges became more smooth, loosing it’s sharpness.
