Władysław Anders' Monument

Description
At first, the monument by Zygmunt Wujek and Dariusz Bachur was unveiled in year 1991 on Dworcowa Street in Koszalin, however the patinated plaster bust of general Władysław Anders was later stolen. In year 1994 in between Zwycięstwa Street and Andersa Street the new monument was unveiled (BUŁŁO 2014). The sculpture was made of white sandstone block on low concrete plinth. To the top of sandstone block the marble boulder was attached with a bronze detail of monastery at it’s peak. At the left side of block there was a capsule made from artillery shell containing earth from Monte Cassino. At the right site the chapel was placed in a sandstone carved hole (GUT 2013). In the front of the sandstone block a new bronze bust of general Władysław Anders is mounted.
In year 2016 the monument was moved due to Janek Stawisiński Street construction. As a result the low concrete plinth was demolished, a piece of sandstone block is missing, the marble boulder orientation has changed and the capsule was removed for renovation. The differences are depicted in the image beside.
The sandstone block size is circa 0.92 m length, 0.58 m width of the side or 0.80 width in case of irregular bulge in the back of block, 1.92 m height. The boulder is around 1.60 x 1.15 x 0.85 m. Total height, including monastery detail, is 2.81 m.
About model
The sculpture was scanned on July 28th, 2013. Based on the obtained data, 3D model was created and optimized in Agisoft Photoscan. In the next step, textures were created from photos taken on February 25th, 2018. Serious differences have been detected between models from 2013 and 2018. The sculpture was dismantled and moved to the other place between these years. The front upper-right corner and the element from left side of sandstone (seen now as improperly reconstructed deep hole) were both missing now. The marble boulder above has changed the orientation (a skew) in relation to the sculpture. The monument has been also cleaned and the moss was removed from the stone.
Due to problems of DSM algorithm, another photographic session was performed on March 18th, 2018. Both sessions from year 2018 were used to produce the texture. The point cloud from photos was used to create the model, except from the brown crown at the very top of the boulder, which was reconstructed from laser scanning. The obtained model has been scaled and oriented in CloudCompare to fit the sculpture measured in 2013 with a laser scanner.
The obtained model is highly detailed, although the reconstruction of the upper crown is imprecise, despite using a ladder during measurements. Bright spots on sides of the sandstone around details of the sculpture are related to differing camera settings. In fact, all sides of sandstone have practically the same brightness. The texture therefore requires manual correction.
